allergic to cats and horses, does that mean rabbits too?

Post a new topicby evag4 on Fri Jun 27, 2008 8:42 am

My daughter was just tested for allergies, and is allergic to horses, cats, all grasses, weeds, trees, corn, nuts, soy and tomatoes. She's been suffering with asthma, nasal congestion and in the last year chronic migraines. We have a rabbit, but no cat. Does anyone know if you are positive for cats, does that mean you are positive for rabbits also? Thanks

I have no real idea if a rabbit and a cat are the same. I do happen to know that rabbits are susceptible to some feline diseases, so it may count as an allergy thing too.

A great solution that I have found (my sister is allergic) is to wipe the cat (rabbit, ferret etc) down with a baby wipe every few days and to bathe the animal once every week or two. It's a whole lot of extra special fun giving a cat with claws a bath, but that's the price you pay to cohabitate with an allergy sufferer.

I hope that helps you!
